2025 Tour de France Stage 11 Report: Jonas Abrahamsen (Uno-X Mobility) won the eleventh stage of the 2025 Tour de France on Wednesday. After a long day of attacking, the Norwegian beat his break companion Mauro Schmid (Jayco AlUla) in a two-man sprint. Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck) was just unable to catch the two in the final kilometres, to finish third. There were no changes in the general classification, despite Tadej Pogačar (UAE Emirates-XRG) crashing in the last kilometres. Ben Healy (EF Education-EasyPost) retained the yellow jersey.
The last kilometre
After the rest day, the Tour continued with a stage that started and finished in Toulouse, with the final 45 kilometres packed with climbs. The first few of these climbs were manageable for the sprinters, but the last two were much harder: the Côte de Vieille-Toulouse (1.5km at 6.7%) and the Montée Pech David (900meters at 9.1%), 9 kilometres from the finish.
Stage 11 profile
A hair-raising stage 11 around Toulouse saw Jonas Abrahamsen (Uno-X Mobility) lead the way from kilometre 0 all the way to the finish! The Norwegian was the first attacker right from the start, with Mauro Schmid (Jayco AlUla) on his wheel. Behind them, the pace was relentless, with lots of riders eager to make the most of a punchy course. But in the end, the first two attackers were also the first two to reach the line in Toulouse, as Mathieu Van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck) came 7 seconds shy of reeling them in. Already a hero of the 2024 Tour with his many breakaways, Abrahamsen took his first Grand Tour victory, as well as Uno-X Mobility’s first. In the finale, Tadej Pogačar (UAE Emirates-XRG) crashed, but he quickly got back up and finished in the same time as his GC rivals, ahead of three key stages in the Pyrenees.

A brutal battle from the gun
Ahead of the last ascents of the day, attackers were inspired from the gun. Jonas Abrahamsen (Uno-X Mobility) set off as soon as the peloton pass km 0. He was followed by Mauro Schmid (Jayco AlUla) and Davide Ballerini (XDS Astana).
Tadej Pogačar back in the rainbow jersey – For how long?
The trio of attackers worked well together, but many more riders wanted to get on the move. Wout van Aert (Visma | Lease a Bike) was very aggressive, and so were Quinn Simmons (Lidl-Trek), Kévin Vauquelin (Ark-B&B Hotels) and Quentin Pacher (Groupama-FDJ)…
A ‘selfie’ for the jerseys
With so many riders attacking again and again, the three early attackers struggled to open a significant gap despite covering 51.7 km in the first hour. Fred Wright (Bahrain Victorious) and Mathieu Burgaudeau (TotalEnergies) crossed to make it a 5-man lead group after 74 kilometres.
There will be some stiff legs at the start in Toulouse
Even Healy attacks
The gap to the bunch eventually hit 1 minute… But more counter-attackers want to make the break. The bunch exploded and Ben Healy (EF Education-EasyPost) himself attacked with 65 kilometres to go! Jonas Vingegaard (Visma | Lease a Bike) followed him, Tadej Pogačar (UAE Emirates-XRG) had to react.
The break started from the gun
The stragglers got back and attackers set off again – this time, Simmons puts the hammer down, he’s followed by Van Aert, as well as Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck), Axel Laurance (INEOS Grenadiers) and Arnaud De Lie (Lotto). As the calm returned to the bunch, these five attackers worked together to chase the five leaders.
The break grew to five
Schmid and Abrahamsen set off
Into the last 50 kilometres, the road rises with the main uphill challenges of the day. The gap from the five leaders to the five chasers stabilised around 30 seconds while the peloton trail by 2:30. Schmid attacked on the penultimate climb, the Côte de Vieille-Toulouse (summit at 142.5km) and Abrahamsen joins him at the front. Behind them, Simmons set off in pursuit.
Van der Poel wanted to cross to leaders
As they face the mighty Côte de Pech David (800m at 12.4%), Schmid and Abrahamsen are 20 seconds ahead of Simmons, Burgaudeau and Wright, while the group with Van der Poel trails by 30 seconds. Over the top, Van der Poel is the first chaser at 20 seconds.
It had been a long day for Abrahamsen and Schmid
Pogačar crashes, Abrahamsen wins
In the peloton, Kévin Vauquelin (Arkéa-B&B Hotels) and Jonas Vingegaard (Visma | Lease a Bike) attack but Tadej Pogačar (UAE Emirates-XRG) reacts and the GC contenders get back together for the final run-in to Toulouse, but the Slovenian crashes with 6km to go. He quickly gets back up and his rivals wait for him. At the front, nobody waits for nobody. Van der Poel got closer and closer to the lead duo but he was 7 seconds shy of catching them. A very tight sprint eventually crowns Abrahamsen, claiming his first ever Grand Tour win. The GC contenders finish together on the eve of a great battle to Hautacam.

A close win for Jonas Abrahamsen
Overall leader,Ben Healy (EF Education-EasyPost): “It has been a chaotic, fast first two couple of hours. I’ve lost a few years of life today, because it was a super stressful stage. I was trying to keep my powder dry and this made me get dropped from the peloton early on, forcing my teammates to chase down – it was a super team effort! At some point, Tadej [Pogacar] missed a split and the opportunity arose for me to attack along with Jonas [Vingegaard]. I did so because I felt like putting the hammer down. The final was very tough, too, making for a pretty hard day. It’s pretty ambitious to try and keep the Yellow Jersey atop Hautacam with guys like Tadej and Jonas in contention, yet I’m optimistic and will give it a go tomorrow. I’m enjoying this Yellow Jersey so much… It’s being crazy at home, and it’s incredible to wear it in the race.”
The final 45 kilometres of stage 12, the peloton initially tackles the Col du Soulor via Ferrières (11.9km at 7.3%), before the Col de Bordères. Then comes a real moment of truth on the 13.6km climb to Hautacam, where the gradient averages 7.8%.
