The 2026 Wahooligan Tour Returns

What started in 2013 as The Sufferfest’s “Tour of Sufferlandria” has evolved into one of indoor cycling’s most anticipated charity challenges. Now known as the Wahooligan Tour, the seven-stage sufferfest blends hard training with serious fundraising, having raised more than $2.3 million for the Davis Phinney Foundation to support people living with Parkinson’s disease. Here’s how to register, what to expect, and why 2026 may be your last chance in its current format.

In 2013 The Sufferfest training application launched its annual “Tour of Sufferlandria.” Described as “The Hardest Stage Race of Any Imaginary Country” it required participants to ride to specific videos over a 9 day period.  The goal was to raise money for the Davis Phinney Foundation (DPF).  Started by the celebrated American sprinter, the Foundation assists those living with Parkinson’s Disease.

In 2022 Wahoo purchased The Sufferfest and continued the tradition of the annual charity ride, renamed “The Wahooligan Tour” in 2023.  While the Tour has been reduced to “only” seven stages from the original event that included two weekends, it remains a highlight of the indoor season for many, albeit a sometimes painful one.  More importantly, it has raised over US$2.3 million for DPF since inception.

Participants can ride the Tour either at 100% of the effort setting (“The Nuclear Option”) or at a more sane level.  There is also a bit of leeway in the timing as the clock actually starts in Australia, meaning that the March 1 start date could be 24 hours earlier in a lot of places.

How to Register
This year’s Tour runs from March 1-7 and entering is easy.  Just register here at the Davis Phinney Foundation and cover the US$20 entry fee, which also gets you into the prize pool.  For every US$10 of donation that one raises there is an additional prize pool entry.  And in the past the prizes have been pretty great!  The good feeling from donating can be nicely rewarded if your name is drawn.

Participation requires using the Wahoo app and SYSTM in particular.  If you are not using this already, there is a 14 day free trial period available to try it out you can access here.  Of course, this would cover the 7 day Wahooligan Tour but also is an introduction to some excellent training workouts.

For many of us looking outside at too much damn snow, the Wahooligan Tour offers up some great training for the season to come as well as supporting a great cause.  There is still time to fundraise and donations are accepted throughout the event.  We  understand that the 2026 edition will be the last in the current format so don’t miss out!
