Pas Normal Studios Autumn/Winter 2025 T.K.O. Collection: The cold weather has hit the East coast of Spain, but don’t worry, our man Alastair Hamilton has some new kit from Pas Normal Studios: Their TKO collection for autumn and winter, along with a Mid long sleeve base layer and Logo transition gloves. This kit should get him off Zwift.

The Pas Normal Studios T.K.O. collection
Alastair Hamilton PEZ sez:
T.K.O. Woven Long Sleeve Jersey (Men – T.K.O. Red)
I like the modern fashion of subtle colours and small logos, but I do miss having a bright, in-your-face jersey with big writing, probably due to wearing team kit during most of my cycling life. The Pas Normal Studios T.K.O. woven long sleeve jersey is far from subtle with its red swirls and T.K.O. logo front and back. The design reminds me of the background sky of ‘The Scream’ by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch, but not as scary.

Eye catching design
The Italian made woven material has a fleece interior and a smooth outer face which gives wind and water protection. PNS say: “Made with a C0 DWR treatment using the LOT ‘O’ DRY
technology, which is a holistic approach to water repellence that takes fabric structure into account.” So, light and will keep you warm and dry in changeable conditions – Perfect for autumn, spring and those milder winter days.

Fleecy interior with that extra zip pocket
The jersey has a race fit and is stretchy enough to accommodate any off-season excesses. Starting at the top: there is a proper collar which is lined. The shoulder seams have been heat sealed, as has the hem around the waist, all other seams are overlocked and ultra strong. The YKK zip has pouches top and bottom and a full length weather protection strip on the inside. The sleeves stretch to fit, without constricting your movements, even with the long sleeved base layer worn underneath. There are also large cuffs on the sleeves. There are body side panels for fit and comfort and the rear has a little more length for protection. The three rear pockets have a hem at their openings and has a breathable material on the inside. The best and most important facet is the small fourth zip pocket for your card or cash. I wonder why they don’t run a stitch along the bottom of the fourth pocket, this would give you an extra inside pocket. Maybe it’s due to the different materials? There is a wide elasticated strip at the base, bellow the pockets to hold everything in place and it has ‘Road to Nowhere’ printed along its length on the inside.

Classy look
As always with PNS, the workmanship on the jersey is perfect, strong stitching and well designed. They have thought of everything and made a very practical and stylish piece of cycling clothing. This is now my favourite jersey for the next months.

Stunning and comfortable
T.K.O. Essential Thermal Long Bibs (Men – Dark Purple)
The bib tights are great, okay I like bib shorts and leg-warmers, but there is something about tights. Maybe because you just pull them on and don’t have to mess around getting the leg-warmers under the shorts. Do you put the shorts on first or the leg-warmers? Full length tights with some writing or logo on the leg also looks really Pro. The T.K.O. Essential thermal tights are made of a fleece material which is warm and repels water. The fleece isn’t too thick and doesn’t wrinkle at the back of the knees, this is helped by the shape of the legs, thanks to the shaped panels. The upper leg (the shorts part) is made up of four panels and the leg has two, so the tights are shaped to fit.

Shaped to fit
The bib is mesh at the back, with two wide elasticated straps. The back comes quite high at the rear, with an extra panel to keep the lumbar and kidneys warm, but the front isn’t too high for a call of nature. Round the ankles there are rubberised grippers on the cuffs to hold them down. Like the jersey, all the seams are overlocked and perfectly stitched. There are three T.K.O. logos; one on each thigh and one on the back, plus a ‘Plus Normal Studios’ logo on the front of the left leg and a T.K.O. diamond logo on the right.

The best chamois pad
Now to the most important part: The seat pad or chamois. I’ve said it before, but Pas Normal Studios uses one of the most comfortable chamois I’ve ever sat on. It’s made with four layers of padding, with the thickest sections where you need it and less where it’s not. Much like your saddle there isn’t much padding in the middle and the front and full padding for the sit bones and between your legs. There is material at the front to look after the ‘family jewels’, to keep the junk warm and chafing free. Top quality clothing using very good materials and perfectly put together. The T.K.O. tights are going to last me long time.

For sure T.K.O.
T.K.O. Thermal Wool Socks (White)
The T.K.O thermal wool socks are made with 56% Merino wool, 41% Polyamide and 3% Elastane, so they are warm, fit well and hold their shape. There is a double cuff at the top of the ribbed leg, a shaped heel in a thicker material, as is the toe. Sole of the sock is a weaved fleecy material with a ribbed stretchy section in the middle of the foot.

Feet as warm as toast
They are marked ‘L’ and ‘R’, but they are also marked ‘L’ on both feet for the size, which did confuse me at first as I usually wear medium socks. The T.K.O logo on the outside of the leg is not over the top and goes with all the other kit. Anyway, once you have mastered putting them on, the first thing you notice is how warm and comfortable they are. They also slide into the tightest of cycling shoes without rucking up. Of course the best sock colour is white and the T.K.O. version only comes in white, but PNS make thermal socks in other colours, but not T.K.O branded.

You won’t see T.K.O. under your tights, but don’t wear your socks over your tights
Mid Long Sleeve Base Layer (Men – Earth)
A base layer is a must in cold weather. Yes, riders don’t wear them in the summer these days, which goes against how I was brought up: “Ne’er cast a cloot till Mays oot”. Clothing materials have changed a lot and big, thick, woollen vests are a thing of the past, now we have lightweight base layers that wick the sweat away and keep you warm. The PNS Mid long sleeve base layer is perfect for the days you are not sure how cold it’t going to be or for a chilly start.

Not too thick, but very warm
The PNS Mid long sleeve base layer is made of Polartec® Power Wool
fabric which gives some wind protection. It has merino wool on the inside and a synthetic material on the outside which takes the sweat away from the skin. The vest is body hugging and is perfect to wear under other layers, depending how cold it is. The base layer has a long rear section to protect your lower spine, and there are also side panels to help the comfortable fit. The sleeves are also a good length. ‘PAS NORMAL STUDIOS’ on the chest and ‘ROAD TO NOWHERE’ down the spine. I don’t like too many layers on my arms, but the Mid base layer doesn’t feel constricting at the elbows, so you have the usual free movement of your arms.

Great for layering
Logo Transition Gloves (Unisex – Black)
Since I moved to Spain, 25 years ago, gloves have not been high in my thoughts. But there have been mornings and days in the hills when I wished I had put (owned) a pair of gloves in my back pocket. The Pas Normal Studios Transition gloves are not thick heavy duty winter gloves, but light weight and tight fitting. The palm feels like a soft chamois, it is synthetic but is so soft on your skin.

Warm and thin enough to feel the bars
There is no padding on the palms, but unless you are riding on cobbles or rough roads, you don’t really need it. The back of your hands are protected by a warm fleecy acrylic material. There are a couple of nice touches: There are little pads on the ends of the thumb and fore finger, which are touchscreen compatible also there is a very handy loop at the cuff to help pulling them on. They roll-up really small and don’t take up any room in your pocket. There is a reflective ‘Pas Normal Studios’ logo on the back of each glove for added safety.

And they work on a touchscreen
How does it all feel out on the road? What can I say? Pas Normal Studios is one of the best cycling clothing manufacturers and all their kit is very well designed and put together. It’s not the cheapest, but you have to pay for quality and it will last a long time.

Less Zwift this winter?
We have had some wet and ‘colder’ weather here on the east coast of Spain, clear skies, but temperatures around 10ºC during the day and colder in the shade, so perfect weather to test out the T.K.O. collection. There is a short section of road about a kilometre from my house that gets no sun during the winter months, well I was glad of the gloves as I’d forgotten about this cold weather discomfort. The temperature probably varied between just under 10ºC and 15ºC, but there was a bit of windchill and also the sun was warm when sheltered from the wind. Variable would best cover it. Anyway, I went on my usual hour and a half undulating ride in great comfort. I was warm enough to take the gloves off, didn’t over heat or feel cold. The long sleeved undervest along with the jersey were not constricting or flappy. The pockets are all accessible and everything stayed in place. I’ve spoken before about the chamois pad and it was as good as ever. It looks like it will be bulky, but once on it feels great, stays in place and there is no rubbing. The socks were nice and warm. The PNS kit always feels good, but I really like the colours and the design of the T.K.O. clothing. I’ll get out in the cold weather a bit more this winter.

Ready to go
