Tifosi Vogel SL Breast Cancer Awareness Collection$39.95

Tifosi has rolled out its popular Breast Cancer Awareness Collection for a third consecutive year.  Featuring Tifosi’s popular active-lifestyle sunglasses in limited-edition pink colorways, 100% of proceeds from each pair of sunglasses sold on TifosiOptics.com from the Awareness Collection will be donated to support critical educational outreach and research efforts of the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation. Since first launching its inaugural Awareness collection in 2022, Tifosi has donated over $8.6K to Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation.

This year’s collection includes:

Sanctum
Selco
Svago
Swank (2 different colorways)
Vogel SL

PEZ tested the Vogel SL.

On my scale, one gram heavier than spec

Chuck Peña PEZ sez: I reviewed the Vogel SL a year ago February when it was first introduced in the Tifosi lineup. The Vogel SL Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) limited edition is also a frameless, shield style measuring 130mm wide x 58.6mm tall that provides more than enough real estate for sun and wind protection. It’s definitely a current fashion trend EuroPro look.

What’s different about the Vogel SL BCA is the colorway. The original Vogel SL comes in seven different colorways:

Crystal Clear Frame – Smoke Tint with Pink Mirror
Crystal Smoke – Smoke Tint with Blue Mirror
Gloss Black – Smoke Tint with Green Mirror
Crystal Purple – Smoke Tint with Purple Mirror
Blackout – Smoke Tint
Matte Black – Smoke Tint with Red Mirror
Satin Clear – Clear Lens

The Vogel SL BCA has a Gloss Crystal Pink frame (meaning the temple pieces since it’s a frameless design) with Smoke Tint with Pink Mirror lens because pink is the color of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (every October). The smoke tint is dark enough for riding in bright sunlight (but for me OK enough dealing with light clouds) with clear/undistorted optics (the most important thing). In other words, what you would expect from a pair of high quality cycling sunglasses.

What you wouldn’t expect is the $39.95 price tag. I’ll repeat that … only $39.95. However, at that price point you don’t get extra lenses (e.g., clear or high contrast) or a hardshell case. But as I said before: “if all you want is a pair of cycling sunglasses that don’t break the bank and are on point with the latest EuroPro fashion trend, the Tifosi Vogel SL is that.

If there is one “drawback” to the Vogel SL, it’s that it’s a single fixed lens, i.e., not interchangeable. (Take a guess at what SL might stand for?) Not a big deal if you’re just wanting a pair of stylish sport sunglasses to wear for cycling or any other sports/outdoor activities, such as running, walking, golf, or pickleball — primarily for bright sunlight. But since since the lens on the Vogel SL BCA looks more gold-ish to me and the “regular” Vogel SL sunglasses I already have came with a more apparently rose/pink-ish lens (at least to my eye), I wish I could swap the lenses. Not a deal breaker, but would be nice to have the option to make the Vogel SL BCA  as pink as possible. #firstworldproblem

To me, the Vogel SL BCA lens (left) looks more gold-ish vs the regular Vogel SL (right) with rose/pink lens — but that could be a function of lighting (indoor) and viewing angle

And it’s certainly not enough to stop me from showing my support for Breast Cancer Awareness (if you’re like me, you may have a family member or know someone who has been affected by breast cancer — hopefully as a survivor). Plus PEZ readers will know I have an affinity for pink. It’s the color of the Giro, my favorite Grand Tour and IMHO the most beautiful of the Grand Tours. #realmenwearpink

Outdoors in direct bright sunlight, the lens has a more rose/pink hue

Colnago V4Rs Tadej
A special bike for the World Championships in Zurich, with a livery inspired by the successes of Tadej Pogačar

Colnago and Tadej Pogačar are pleased to present a special bike, the limited edition Colnago V4Rs Tadej, that he will use to race the World Championships in Zurich on the 29th of September. The colorful livery is inspired by all the successes collected by the Slovenian so far.

Colnago is pleased to unveil the bike that Tadej Pogačar will use to race the UCI Road World Championships in Zurich on Sunday 29th September, the V4Rs Tadej. The model is the same as that he usually uses to compete with UAE Team Emirates, but this livery is very special, and way more colorful.

The paint-job recalls the creations made by the Pop-Art artistic movement born around the mid-50s in the USA and in the UK – of which Tadej is a huge fan – and is inspired by all the major victories achieved so far by the three-times-Maillaut-Jaune.

85 victories, including 4 Grand Tours and 14 Classics. On the top of the UCI individual ranking since 2021.
These are the astonishing numbers of Tadej Pogačar since his debut in the WorldTour, a rider that loves to distinguish himself in the peloton, wearing the leader jerseys, or attacking solo from afar.

The colors on this bike are a tribute to all the major races Pogačar won:

Yellow, to celebrate three Tour de France GC victories (2020, 2021, 2024)
Pink, as homage to the 2024 Giro d’Italia and the pink jersey he wore for 20 out of 21 stages;
Green, to recall Il Lombardia, the Monument Classic that he conquered in 2021, 2022 and 2023, and for Liège-Bastogne-Liège, which he won twice, in 2021 and 2024;
Heavenly blue, for Paris-Nice, one of the most prestigious one-week races on the calendar, won in 2023;
Blue, the color of Tirreno-Adriatico (victories in 2021-2022) and of the KOM jersey at Giro d’Italia (2024);
White, the color of the best young rider of the Tour de France, a special classification that Tadej Pogačar won for four years, from 2020 to 2023;
Red dots, to celebrate the iconic KOM jersey of the Tour de France, a special classification that Tadej won in 2020 and 2021;
Bronze, for two precious bronze medals: the one at the Olympics in 2021 and the one obtained at the World Championships in Glasgow in 2023;
Purple… because as Tadej stated, you always need something purple in your life. The Slovenian actively participated in the creation of the bike, giving feedback to really personalise his Colnago.

Highly-personalized details
The bike is empowered with several personalizations, some with a purely aesthetic goal, others that also have the benefit of saving weight and increasing stiffness.

Logo e pattern TP
The TP (Tadej Pogačar) logo is visible on the frame, most notably on the horizontal tube and at the intersection with the seat tube. You can also appreciate the TP-pattern on some areas of the bike, such as on the chainstays.

Carbon-Ti crankset, brake discs, thru-axles and screws
These are personalization performance-oriented, achieved thanks to the collaboration with the manufacturer Carbon-Ti. The crankset is a composite structure in aluminium alloy and carbon fiber, with the logos engraved. The discs are the X-rotor steelcarbon 3 Center Lock, the highest level of technology available on the market. The threaded thru-axles are superlight, and come in a gold anodized color with a laser-etched graphic: “Colnago – TP – Carbon-Ti”.

The same graphic can be seen also on the screws of the bottle cage, which are in the same gold anodized color and contribute to the bike’s overall weight-saving.

Enve SES 4.5
The wheels are decorated with the same graphics as the frame.

Sella Prologo Nago R4 Nack Tadej Pogačar 24
The bike is completed by a special Prologo Saddle, the Prologo Nago R4 Nack 147 Tadej Pogačar 24, with yellow accents and the names of some of Tadej’s most important victories emblazoned upon it.

Rear derailleur hanger by Framesandgear
The Framesandgear Colnago Disc Brake Direct Mount Derailleur Hanger for V4RS Blue offers precise shifting, improved stiffness, and a lightweight design.

Configuration and Availability
The Colnago V4Rs Tadej will be made available as a limited edition. From the 26th of September until the 14th of October, you will be able to have it exclusively online, on www.colnago.com. From the 14th of October on, you will be able to find it through stores.

The Colnago V4Rs will be equipped with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, Enve 4.5 SES Wheelset, Colnago CC.01 Handlebar at a suggested retail price in Europe of 17,200.00€.

Fuel Goods and Human Powered Health Partner to Revolutionize Sports Nutrition with Personalized, Direct-to-Athlete Solutions
Health-forward brands team up to increase nutrition access and education to athletes of all levels

Fuel Goods, the inclusive leader in making sports nutrition accessible and approachable for all people, and Human Powered Health (HPH), the premier human performance testing company, proudly announce a strategic partnership aimed at empowering individuals to be proactive about their health and performance. This new collaboration seeks to revolutionize how athletes fuel their lifestyles by blending nutrition, physiology, and technology to create a straightforward and personalized plan.

As an official partner of Human Powered Health, Fuel Goods will empower their physiologists to send personalized fueling plans directly to athletes through its ‘Share Your Fuel’ feature. Based on lab results and performance testing, these tailored plans can be purchased with just a click and easily set up on auto-ship, making it convenient and effortless for athletes to stick to personalized fueling plans.

“At Fuel Goods, we believe that fueling should be straightforward while also being unique to each athlete—a balance that is hard to achieve. By combining Human Powered Health’s cutting-edge lab testing and certified physiologists with our straight-to-your-door nutrition solutions, we’re making it easier than ever to implement and be consistent with your fueling plan,” shares Laura Jorgensen, co-founder and CEO of Fuel Goods.

“Human Powered Health helps take the guesswork out of how individuals can effectively and efficiently achieve their health and performance goals, and Fuel Goods is the perfect complement to our services,” says Dan Cohen, Chief Performance Officer of Human Powered Health. “Working in close collaboration with our performance physiologists and registered dieticians, together we now provide specially curated sports nutrition that will meet an individual’s needs so that they can continue to perform and replenish.”

The partnership stems from Fuel Goods’ co-founder Courteney Lowe’s 12+ years in professional women’s cycling, including competing on what is now known as the Human Powered Health Women’s Cycling Team from 2012 to 2014. After struggling through a goal marathon, testing at a Human Powered Health lab revealed she had been taking extra electrolytes that sabotaged her races, sparking a discussion between the two organizations about the need to educate athletes, including women athletes, on their unique physiological needs in sport.

“The relationships I’ve built throughout my cycling career have been instrumental in shaping Fuel Goods’ mission to create real solutions for athletes, especially women,” said Lowe. “Optum p/b KBS, now known as Human Powered Health, was the team that gave me my first big opportunity to race in the US, and it became a springboard for my career. Now, years later, it’s incredibly special to partner with them again to deliver personalized nutrition that empowers athletes with information and tools it took me an entire career to learn and implement. It’s a true full-circle moment—and I couldn’t be more proud to combine our shared expertise to address the unique needs of athletes in a way that’s never been done before.”

Fuel Goods and Human Powered Health have made it their mission to champion women at every level in sport. Fuel Goods recently announced the addition of highly respected Dr. Stacy Sims to its Advisory Board. Sims brings years of experience to her role at Fuel Goods as an exercise physiologist and nutrition scientist. In 2022, Human Powered Health intensified efforts to invest in its Women’s Cycling Team while also regularly supporting the Twin Cities in Motion women-specific events and other female-focused sporting groups through education, lab testing, and post-test recommendations and support.

Enduro Bearings Grease

Enduro loves its bearings and builds them to last. Part of their durability is due to the quality and types of grease they use for any given application.

Enduro’s range of greases is formulated to include a base oil with a thickening agent. This oil slowly bleeds out of the grease and becomes lubricant for the bearing path. The oil adds an elasto-hydrodynamic lubricating film (a thin layer between the two rubbing surfaces) to reduce friction and wear.

Greases can also serve as a second defense from the inside; the first layer of defense is the seal, followed by the grease. These two layers protect bearings from contaminants and moisture. If you have seen Rusty in the dunk tank at Sea Otter or Eurobike, you have seen how quickly bearings can degrade due to moisture.

For greater loads, such as pivots and headsets, special anti-wear additives can improve grease performance. Likewise, thickeners and additives can help grease resist displacement by water or salt-water spray from the road, tail, or pressure washers. All the greases Enduro selects for all their bearings are designated “high-pressure greases.”

Why is grease often a better lubrication option?

Grease adheres to bearing surfaces better than oil, giving the bearing a longer time between service.

Greases contain three components: additives (usually rust inhibitors), a base oil, and a thickener. Enduro selects three greases for specific applications, and each grease will have a different base oil viscosity.

Servicing bearings adds to their lifespan and performance because it minimizes friction and prevents wear. Fresh grease also protects against other known issues, such as corrosion, moisture, and other contaminants.

Bearing grease delivers several benefits to a bearing to keep them working to their best:

It provides a barrier against moisture and contaminants

Non-corrosive, it will not damage any bearing surface inside or outside the bearing.

It is very stable, so it doesn’t break down and require constant service, which prompts better bearing durability.

Depending on where you live, it maintains a stable viscosity over a wide range of temperatures.

Good film strength to support loads

What are fill rates? The grease fill is usually called out as a percentage (e.g., 30% fill). This number is the actual grease volume compared to the free space found in a bearing. Enduro’s bearings run an 80% fill rate.

It’s no secret that proper grease has the largest impact on bearing life. That’s why Enduro uses three different types of grease.

Enduro Performance GreaseMobil XHP 222 (Extra High Pressure):

Used in ABEC 5 angular contact, ABEC 5 radial bearings, and ABEC 3 bearings. It’s an excellent, clean rolling grease that is not easily displaced by power washing or the elements.

Enduro MAX GreaseAlmagard 3752:

Perfect for suspension pivot and headset bearings that rotate just a few degrees. This thick ‘extra high pressure’ grease is used by Caterpillar and heavy equipment manufacturers for its superior tenacity and shock-absorbing attributes.

Enduro XD15 Speed GreaseKlüber Isoflex grease:

Ideally suited for ceramic and stainless steel bottom brackets, hub bearings, and jockey wheels. This grease runs better and smoother over time and is highly resistant to washout.
