Gear Break: Tifosi Moab Lite sunglasses, Flow Formulas endurance drink mix, Santini Cycling and Pirelli Design launch the 2025 “Sport Club” collection of technical cycling Apparel, from pop art to pure speed – LOOK Cycle unveils limited-edition 795 Blade RS in collaboration with Jay Kaes, HydraPak® scales Re_Pak program with nationwide expansion and now until June 12: Custom Wahoo cycling kit.

Tifosi Moab Lite – $79.95

Tifosi sez:  Born from the rugged spirit of the original Moab, the Moab Lite carries forward everything athletes loved — bold shield styling, performance-first design, and a secure, stay-put fit. But now, it’s lighter, faster, and more streamlined than ever.

We took the full-rim frame and trimmed it down to a sleek, lightweight half-rim silhouette—delivering a barely-there feel that goes the distance.. Whether you’re grinding up switchbacks or charging toward the finish line, Moab Lite is built to keep up—with crystal-clear optics and zero distractions.

PEZ sez:  The new Tifosi Moab Lite is available in seven different colorways. PEZ got the Speed Yellow Frame with 3 interchangeable lenses (Clarion Sunset Pink, AC Red, and Clear).

As is the current EuroPro/shop ride fashion trend, the Moab Lite is an oversized shield style lens (it measures 138 mm wide x 55 mm tall). Essentially, Tifosi took the original Moab, which has full frame, and removed the bottom and side parts of the frame to give it more of a rimless look (I’ll call it a half frame). If full frame sunglasses bother your peripheral vision, the Moab Lite may be the ‘driods you’re looking for.

What you get for $79.95: Tifosi Moab Lite sunglasses (in this case with Clarion Sunset Pink lens), AC (all conditions) red lens, clear lens, microfiber cleaning bag (that doubles as a soft case), hardshell case

Fashion aside, the most important thing about the Tifosi Moab Lite is that the lens is optically clear/correct.

Tifosi specs 27 grams for the Moab Lite, but still plenty light

If you choose to get one of the Moab Lite interchange models with three different lenses (BTW, one of the reasons Tifosi is the top selling sunglass brand in retail stores nationwide is that all of their models — including those with additional lenses — retails for less than $100), changing the lenses out is relatively easy (the first time doing it can be a little daunting because you’ll probably be afraid of breaking the frame — but don’t worry about it, it’s flexible enough).

  • To remove a lens:
    • Pinch the center of the frame with your thumb and index finger. With your opposite hand pinch the bottom of the lens near the nose piece. Gently pull your hands apart completely separating the lens from the frame.
  • To install a new lens:
    • Insert both the lens anchors into the corners of the frame.
    • Slide the center of the lens up into the center cut in the frame.
    • Using your thumb, apply pressure upward to the center of the lens until you feel it click into place in the frame.

Spare lenses stow safely in the hardshell case

Speaking of the cost of the Moab Lite (or any other pair of Tifosi sunglasses), don’t confuse lower price with lower quality. Even though they aren’t worn by any big name pros, Tifosi sunglasses would look the part in the pro peloton and can more than hold their own against bigger (and more expensive) names in the optics market.

Lens vents to promote airflow and help prevent fogging

Fit-wise, the Moab Lite fit me the same as the Moab (I would’ve been surprised if it didn’t):

Fit-wise, the Tifosi Moab fit me (average-ish size face) comfortably straight out of the box. Although the ear pieces and nose piece are adjustable, the Moab sat on my face just fine without any adjustment. And because the ear pieces and nose piece use hydrophilic rubber, they do a good job of keeping the Moab in place on my face when riding.

The ear pieces and nose piece are adjustable for fit

PEZ readers will know I’m a fan of Tifosi sunglasses. I have other high quality sunglasses from other manufacturers, but more often than not I reach for a pair of Tifosis when I head out for a ride. As I’ve said before: previously said: “I’m a fan of Tifosi sunglasses. If I was Italian instead of Flipino, I’d be a Tifosi tifosi.”

I admit that I’m more a fan of framel/rim-less sunglasses so the new Moab Lite is a welcome addition to my sunglass rotation. Plus I love the rad 80s throwback vibe of the Speed Yellow Frame.

Bring back the 80s!

With the Moab Lite Speed Yellow Frame, I can channel my inner Lemond

Flow Formulas Endurance Drink Mix

Flow Formulas sez:  Research based fuel to feel and perform your best. Created specifically for activities over one hour.

  • Developed from current sports performance research
  • Replaces needed nutrients during hard racing and training efforts
  • Glucose to Fructose ratio of 1:0.8 based on current sports performance research
  • Top 12 allergen free
  • Exceptional taste
  • Optimal fuel and electrolytes for cyclists, triathletes, ultra runners, backpacking, climbing, snow sports, ball sports, and outdoor adventures
  • Ingredients: organic tapioca maltodextrin, organic agave powder, citric acid, sea salt, fruit, rice maltodextrin
  • Directions: Mix 2-3 scoops with 16-24 ounces of water (use room temperature for best results and add ice as desired). Shake vigorously and let dissolve for 15 minutes
  • High Sodium: Contains 780 mg Sodium per two scoops and 1170 mg per 3 scoops
  • Low Sodium: Contains 200 mg Sodium per two scoops and 300 mg per 3 scoops

PEZ sez:  I’m guessing most PEZ readers put some sort of sports drink in their water bottles when they ride. If you’re looking for something “more” than what you can get at your local grocery/convenience store, Flow Forumulas (a woman-owned and -run brand) is an option to consider. In particular, if you have stomach/digestion issues with off the shelf sports drinks:

  • After realizing that many athletes suffer from food allergies, not to mention many corn-based products are made with genetically modified organisms (GMOs), we set out to create a top 12 allergen-free, science-backed product made with tapioca maltodextrin rather than corn, and real ingredients rather than artificial ones. Our ingredient label is simple and straight-forward, just like the product itself.
  • All our products are free from the following top 12 allergens: peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, soy, gluten, egg, fish, shellfish, corn, sesame, coconut and mustard.

PEZ got their Endurance Sports Drink mix in Lemon Lime and Blueberry Agave flavors. One of the things I really like about Flow Formulas Endurance Sports Drink is that it has more calories than your typical sports drink: 240 calories if you use 2 scoops and 360 calories if you use 3 scoops. That means you’re both hydrating and fueling up when you drink Flow Formulas Endurance Sports Drink during a ride. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it can totally replace other caloric intake, e.g., sports gel, but it makes it a lot easier to consume needed calories and avoid the dreaded bonk monster. And I know at least a few riders who have issues ingesting and digesting food while riding, so Flow Formulas Endurance Sports Drink is a good way for them to get the calories they need by drinking instead of eating.

I’m guessing most people would be OK with the Lemon Lime flavor since that’s pretty ubiquitous amongst sports drinks. Personally, I really like the Blueberry Agave flavor. It’s definitely different, but tasty to me. Just enough sweetness without it being syrupy. But I know everyone’s taste buds are different, so YMMV.

And here’s one data point for y’all to ponder how well Flow Formulas Endurance Sports Drink works: I recently did the Pedal Hilton Head metric century as part of the Hilton Head Cycling/Robson Forensic team contingent responsible for making sure the A group (20-22 mph average) did not become a take no prisoners, out of control hammerfest. I had some gels in my jersey pocket, but all I needed to get from start to finish (in less than 3 hours) was 360 calories of Flow Formulas Endurance Sports Drink in each of my two waterbottles. I can’t remember ever doing a metric on just two water bottles! NOTE: I’m not recommending or suggesting you limit your nutrition intake to just what’s in your water bottles on long rides.

All smiles at the end of 62 miles!

I’m not going to make any claims about Flow Formulas Endurance Sports Drink making you faster or stronger or increasing your endurance, but it certainly works well for me as a hydration/calorie two-fer combo. If you want to try something beyond just sports drink, you might want to go with the Flow!

Santini Cycling and Pirelli Design Launch the 2025 “Sport Club” Collection of Technical Cycling Apparel

After the 2024 edition, a new exclusive line for cyclists inspired by the Pirelli Sport Club with graphics that recall Pirelli advertisements from the 1960s

Santini Pirelli 2025

Santini Cycling and Pirelli Design, following the success of the first edition, launch a second capsule collection, “Santini x Pirelli Sport Club 2025”. The new exclusive collection, inspired by the club founded by Pirelli in 1922 to promote employee well-being through physical activity, confirms the combination of tradition, aesthetic research and technical performance. For Pirelli it is also an opportunity to remember the historic bond with two wheels: the first tyre produced, the “Tipo Milano”, patented in 1893, was in fact for bicycles.

Santini Pirelli 2025

Taking inspiration from the previous collection, the new proposal introduces two graphic lines inspired by the Pirelli advertising archive of the 1960s, part of the historical heritage of over 4 km of documents preserved by the Pirelli Foundation: the Ruota design, characterized by a motif that recalls the wheel in motion, a symbol of dynamism and innovation, and the Tape design, inspired by vintage advertising posters with horizontal colored bands that recall energy, speed and sporting spirit.

The new items include two unisex cycling jerseys: the Ruota version, with a wheel-shaped silicone detail on the back, made of ultra-light and elastic fabric to ensure a slim fit and a second-skin feel; and the Tape version, featuring colored stripes inspired by the iconic Pirelli posters of the 1960s, made of Polartec® Power Stretch™ with lightweight raw-cut sleeves, reflective details and a covered zip for comfort and functionality.

Santini Pirelli 2025

The two new jerseys, available in black and white, go with the Pirelli SC shorts, vest, windbreaker and all the accessories already present in the 2024 collection. To complete the collection, a selection of casual garments designed for both everyday use and pre- or post-ride, available from the end of June.

The new Santini x Pirelli Sport Club collection renews the bond between two Italian excellences, united by a common vision based on innovation, passion for sport and attention to detail.

Each bundle includes the carbon frame and fork, an integrated aero bar-stem and carbon seatpost, a pair of limited-edition Keo Blade Ceramic Ti pedals featuring Jay Kaes’ glitch pop artwork, and an A4 printed poster of the design.

Look 2025

A Carbon Canvas
The collaboration began at Rouleur Live 2024, where Jay Kaes painted two frames in front of visitors. Each production frame is then meticulously finished by hand in Nevers, applying a glitch-pop interpretation of LOOK’s Mondrian-inspired colours. Only 50 frames will be produced and individually numbered. Minor variations in brushwork mean no two are identical.

From Art to Performance
The artwork is applied to the existing 795 Blade RS platform used by Team Cofidis in the UCI World Tour. Technical highlights include a high-modulus 1.5K carbon lay-up, wind tunnel-tested tube profiles and an integrated cockpit, delivering the stiffness-to-weight ratio required for Grand Tour racing.

Federico Musi, CEO, LOOK Cycle, said: “Art is something you usually admire in a gallery or on a wall. With this project, we have moved that creativity onto a race-ready frame, so riders can take it out into the world and use it every day. It shows that performance engineering and artistic expression can share the same space.”

Jay Kaes added: “I aimed to translate the rhythm and movement of cycling into colour and shape. The result is a functional object that also stands as a piece of visual culture.”

HydraPak® Scales Re_Pak Program with Nationwide Expansion in 2025
Pilot program success drives expansion to 300 Re_Pak boxes across 100 locations

Hyrdra-Paki

HydraPak®, the global leader of high-performance hydration solutions, is expanding its Re_Pak program following a successful pilot year in 2024. Originally introduced as a small-scale effort to reduce waste in the hydration space, HydraPak is now scaling up its national footprint, with 300 Re_Pak collection boxes set to roll out to over 100 retail and event locations. The 2025 program aims to collect four times as many bottles as it did during its inaugural year.

Re_Pak is an innovative recycling initiative that gives used sport bottles a second life by transforming them into durable composite construction materials through a partnership with a CHaRM (Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials) facility in Boulder, Colorado. During its pilot year, the program collected approximately 900 bottles, diverting 170 pounds of plastic from landfills. The results demonstrated that outdoor consumers are eager to participate in more circular systems, especially when offered easy access and a clear impact. Already, the 2025 rollout has secured twice the number of participating locations compared to last year.

“Last year, Re_Pak was an invitation. This year it’s a movement gaining momentum,” said HydraPak President and CEO Matt Lyon. “We’ve seen firsthand that when you give outdoor enthusiasts a simple way to make a difference, they’ll show up. Re_Pak reflects our continued commitment to innovation, not just in product design, but in how we care for the planet and support the communities who explore it.”

The program accepts squeezable LDPE and PP bottles from any brand, including CamelBak, Polar Bottle, Specialized, UltraAspire, Nathan, Amphipod, Gatorade, Powerade, and more. Consumers are encouraged to clean out their gear bins and drop off eligible bottles at participating retailers and select outdoor events including:

Re_Pak is one piece of HydraPak’s broader sustainability ecosystem. The brand also hosts Gear Rehab, a hydration gear cleaning and repair service offered at select outdoor events, and the Sustainable Racing Program, an initiative aimed at reducing single-use cup waste at road and trail races. Together, these efforts reflect HydraPak’s commitment to life cycle thinking, gear longevity, and environmental responsibility across the outdoor and endurance community.

Retailers and event organizers interested in participating in the Re_Pak program can learn more and sign up at www.hydrapak.com/pages/repak-by-hydrapak.
