As the winter miles stack up and we look toward the spring season, our latest gear roundup proves that cycling innovation thrives at both ends of the spectrum. Whether you are a purist drawn to the hand-brazed elegance of the new Cinelli Supercorsa—an icon of Italian steel since 1951—or a tech enthusiast eyeing Rudy Project’s limited-edition 3D-printed titanium eyewear, or some seriously amazing new shoes from Nimbl, there is something here to spark your “New Bike Day” daydreams. But performance isn’t always about the highest price tag; we also dive into the practical side of the sport examining Ritchey’s headset integration solutions, a nicely priced set of open ear buds, and a set of Bucklos cleats that offer a factory-feel experience for a fraction of the cost. Welcome to the Gear Break January’s End edition.
Cinelli Supercorsa
Steel icon reimagined
Over 70 years since its introduction, leading Italian performance cycling lifestyle brand Cinelli has unveiled a reimagining of the iconic Supercorsa frameset, now available in 17 sizes from 48 through to 64cm in 1cm increments, plus an option for custom sizing, and in eight stunning colors.

New look, legendary heritage
The Supercorsa remains 100% Made in Italy, designed according to the original specifications perfected in the 60s with its instantly recognizable sloping fork design and fast-back seat stays. For 2026 the frameset returns with a new look, while staying true to its legendary heritage.
First introduced in 1951 by Cino Cinelli and framebuilder Luigi Valsassina for Luigi’s friend, the one and only Fausto Coppi, the Cinelli Supercorsa is the most iconic Italian racing frame of all time. Cinelli’s goal was to create “the perfect functional harmony between the three main parts of the frame: the fork, the main triangle and the rear stays.”
This harmony was to be achieved through the development of stiffness, elasticity, aerodynamics and aesthetics, with each component of the frame completely redesigned according to the radical criteria of Cino, the stubborn perfectionist.

Handmade elegance
Beloved by generations of riders and framebuilders, elegant geometry, steel construction, and legendary ride feel define the Supercorsa. Today, each frame continues to be handmade in Milan by Cinelli’s master craftsmen using Columbus Spirit tubing—ensuring the shortest and most local supply chain in the industry.
Victor Luis, Chairman of Cinelli, sez: “The Supercorsa is Cinelli’s soul. For over 70 years, it has embodied the timeless pursuit of performance through craft. This latest iteration stays true to its legacy and continues to pay homage to Italian steel tradition as an object of desire for riders and collectors alike.”
Retro meets modern
The 2026 Supercorsa features double-butted Columbus SL tubing and original lugs, together with its famed Columbus SL 1” Threaded sloping fork. Compatible with standard rim brakes, an Italian threaded (of course!) 70mm bottom bracket shell, internal rear brake routing and featuring downtube shifter bosses. Retro meets modern style, continuing an unmatched history that carries endless stories from the road.
The new Supercorsa was reintroduced for collectors in a limited edition pink colorway in late 2025 with just 12 frames produced, each one a tribute to Cino Cinelli’s 12 legendary race victories. Now, the frameset returns in a production-ready version, continuing the Supercorsa legacy for years to come.

Nimbl 2026 Shoe Range
Iconic updates
Nimbl has unveiled its 2026 cycling shoe range, updating the designs of some iconic models while retaining the comfort, functionality and performance that have established them as a benchmark for professionals and enthusiasts.
The new features focus on providing greater consistency and recognizability across the collection through an aesthetic refresh. The toe and heel now integrate more seamlessly with the upper and are white instead of black. The model name is displayed on the heel next to the logo to reinforce the visual identity and racing character of each Nimbl shoe.

Turning PRO
The Glide and Air models have officially joined the PRO family. This is a natural progression for the brand, reflecting the growing popularity of these shoes among sponsored athletes. This recognition of their quality has already been proven in high-level competitions and is now further enhanced by an aesthetic that aligns with products chosen by professionals.

From a technical standpoint, the range maintains the highest performance standards. The sole is now available in three- or four-bolt configurations for every model. Ventilation, lightness and comfort remain unchanged, and the Nimbl carbon monocoque chassis ensures structural rigidity, maximizing power transfer and responsiveness with every pedal stroke.
Refined, not redefined
The brand has taken another step in its journey by refining the design while maintaining the product’s essence. Every cyclist now has the chance to choose shoes that combine elite performance and Italian craftsmanship with an increasingly distinctive and contemporary visual identity.
The closure systems continue to rely on BOA, except for the Ultimate Air, which features an essential, minimalist lace-up design.

Francesco Sergio, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Nimbl, sez: “Our products are designed to endure seasons of use. They are refined over time and through research. With this year’s collection, we focused on visual identity while preserving the experience that cyclists know and value: lightness, precision and a direct connection with the bike.”
Availability and pricing
The line is available to order on nimbl.cc now, with some models coming available in early February. Select retail partners will gain access to stock closer to spring. The shoes range in price from $549 to $649.
Nank Clip Super Open Ear Earbuds – $59.99
NOTE: Pricing is MSRP and does not reflect any discounts that my be offered

Specs per Nank:
- Feather light , Weighing just 5.1 g :
- Open-ear comfort with soft materials for all-day wear.
- Advanced DS 2.0 Directional Audio Delivery Technology for Clear Sound with Minimal Leakage: A groundbreaking 360° open-style directional audio technology sends rich, clear sound to you while reducing leakage for private listening.
- Rich, natural sound with 16.2 mm large ceramic composite diaphragm.
3D surround sound technology for immersive audio. - AI algorithm and 2 outstanding mics for crystal-clear calls.
- lPX5 rating protects against sweat and rain. Ideal for gym sessions or runs these clip on earbuds are built for active lifestyles.
- Ultra-low 60ms latency for superior video and gaming.

Chuck sez: Let me start by saying that I’m not advocating wearing headphones while riding a bike. It’s my personal belief that you need the full attention of your eyes and ears while riding to be aware of your surroundings and all the potential hazards/circumstances you might encounter.
But I would (and do) wear headphones while doing indoor rides on Zwift and Rouvy. You may recall that we reviewed a set of Nank bone-conducting headphones a little over a year ago. These Nank Clip Super earbuds are no less brilliant.
Key Details
- They’re lightweight and super comfortable to wear, so unobtrusive. Basically a pair of clip on earrings but they don’t pinch. And I could shake my head side-to-side and they stayed in place.
- If I’m riding solo, they’re perfect for listening to music. I don’t claim to be an audiophile, but IMHO the sound quality is excellent. The bass isn’t thumping, but it’s deep and hits.
- If I’m doing group rides on Zwift and connected on Discord, they’re more than functional for conversations. Although open ear, they do a good job at minimizing outside noise so I can hear what’s being said (per Nank, the Clip Super earbuds have Al Intelligent Noise Cancellation so that probably has something to do with that.) And the sound of my voice on the receiving end is crisp and clear according to my virtual riding pals (each earbud has its own microphone).

Nank specs 10.2 grams for a pair of Clip Super earbuds
Using the Nank Clip Super earbuds
Using the Nank Clip Super earbuds is fairly easy. The first thing you need to do is charge them up in the case. They will automatically power up when you remove them from the charger (if you turn them off when they’re out of the charger, you’ll have to turn each earbud back on separately). Then pair them to your phone:
- With the earbuds turned off, long press the touch key (on either earbud) for 3 seconds to turn on and enter pairing mode (NOTE: the touch key doesn’t provide haptic feedback)
- Open Bluetooth on your phone and search for devices
- Find Nank Clip Super and click to connect
- There will be a voice prompt “Bluetooth Connected”
- You’re good to go to listen to music or phone calls

One thing I found a little confusing at first was figuring out which was the left earbud and which was the right. There aren’t any markings on the earbuds to indicate such. Instead, Nank has way of distinguishing left from right. The charging case has L and R markings. The left “nest” is for the left earbud and the right “nest” is for the right earbud. Because of the magnetic charging connections, it’s not possible to put left in right or vice-versa. Clever, eh?

The green arrow is where the L and R markings are

On my ears, the Nank Clip Super Open Ear Earbuds had a “barely there” feel
Rudy Project Performance 40
Heritage exclusivity
In 1986, a young Rudy Project company introduced a pair of sports glasses destined to become iconic: the Super Performance, the brand’s very first wraparound model.
>
The product gained global recognition that same year following the incredible victory of Italian cyclist Moreno Argentin (pictured above on the left). Famously, he wore the glasses when he won the UCI Road World Championship in Colorado Springs. That event propelled Rudy Project onto the world stage, establishing it as a brand synonymous with innovation. Today, the Super Performance remains a textbook example of pioneering sports accessory design.
40 years of innovation

To mark its 40th anniversary – and exactly 40 years after the Colorado Springs victory that put its eyewear in the global spotlight – an ultra-limited celebratory model, produced in just 100 individually numbered pieces is now available on rudyproject.com: the Performance 40.
The Performance 40 is a true collector’s item and a technological jewel. It features a 3D-printed titanium frame – a noble, hypoallergenic material – engineered with a hollow internal structure that delivers exceptional lightness. The total weight is just 36 grams.
Finished in metallic grey, the Performance 40 is equipped with a toric lens that faithfully replicates the curvature of the original model, along with an adjustable nosepiece for a precise, race-ready fit.

The Rudy Project logo, Rudy Barbazza’s signature, and the individual numbering are laser-etched directly onto the lens, underscoring the exclusivity of each piece.
Pricing and availability
The Performance 40 is now available for purchase exclusively at rudyproject.com, with a suggested retail price of €950. Rudy Project state they are available worldwide, pricing is only in Euro.
Bucklos BH12 SPD-SL Compatible Cleats
Same performance, half the price
For road cyclists and indoor training enthusiasts, the “consumables” of the sport—cleats, tires, brake pads, chains—add up quickly. Some things, you stay original, because it isn’t worth risking a lower quality offering. But, Bucklos has carved out a niche by offering some high-quality replacements that mirror the performance of Shimano’s OEM hardware for a fraction of the cost. I was in need of a new set of cleats to keep my winter Zwifting escapades locked in, so I decided to give the Bucklos BH12 a shot.

The Bucklos BH12 cleat is one of those items that can reduce long-term costs with minimal perforce risk. I prefer the 2° float (Blue) model. It is the “Goldilocks” choice for many, but Bucklos offers the full range of Shimano SPD compatible cleats to match your biomechanical needs. The 0° Float (Red) is for the purists, or the masochists. Zero lateral movement for maximum power transfer. 6° Float (Yellow) offers maximum movement for those who prefer a looser feel or have specific alignment requirements.
Construction and install
Constructed from high-strength polyamide and TPU, these cleats are designed to match the exact dimensional tolerances of the Shimano SPD-SL system. They feature integrated anti-slip TPU tips to provide extra traction at the coffee stop and a standard 3-bolt pattern compatible with almost every road shoe and Peloton-style indoor bike.
These showed up at just the right time, because my old OEM cleats were finished…not to mention the shoes. Though with 25,000km on these since 2023, maybe I need to replace the shoes too…

Unboxing the cleats reveals the same unit and hardware (bolts and rectangular washers) you’d expect to find.

And they bolt right up, just like you would expect.

Andy Sez: “I’ve been putting the Blue 2° cleats through their paces, and honestly? They feel identical to the Shimano SM-SH12s. There is absolutely no discernible difference in the engagement or the release—they click in with that same reassuring snap and pop out exactly when you expect them to. On the bike, they function flawlessly. If you’re looking to save some cash on wear-and-tear items without sacrificing that ‘factory’ feel, these are a no-brainer.”
The Verdict
Whether you’re sprinting on the tarmac or grinding out a power zone session in the pain cave, the Bucklos BH12s deliver the stability you need. At roughly half the price of original manufacturer replacements, they are an essential addition to any rider’s maintenance kit.
Compatibility: Shimano SPD-SL (RS550, 105, Ultegra, Dura-Ace) Weight: ~50g per pair. Available from Amazon for $11.39-11.99 (affiliate link).
