We also explore the heritage-rich Rapha x Hiut denim collaboration and the artisanal ritual of the QUOC M Pro Lace, but make sure you read to the end for the grand finale: a deep dive into the Specialized Crux DSW—the bike that proves high-end aluminum is back with a vengeance.

Pirelli P ZERO Race TLR SL-R

The new speed king

On March 24, Pirelli dropped the P ZERO Race TLR SL-R, a tire that effectively shaves watts and grams to claim the throne as the fastest, most aerodynamic rubber in their storied lineup. It may be the fastest tire on the market to date. Built in their Milan-Bollate facility, it’s a dedicated race-day weapon designed to cheat the wind while maintaining the “made in Italy” soul we’ve come to expect.

The Tech Breakdown

  • PAAS (Pirelli Advanced Aerodynamic System): This is the headline. Pirelli has reshaped the tire’s profile to optimize the “sailing effect” when paired with modern wide rims (22-25mm internal). Pirelli claim a 5-watt average saving in crosswinds, peaking at 15 watts in specific conditions.

  • LiteCORE Casing: Moving away from the SpeedCORE used in the RS, the SL-R features the new LiteCORE construction. It’s their lightest TLR structure to date, boasting a 10% reduction in rolling resistance compared to their previous best.

  • SmartEVO² Compound: It utilizes the same compound that carried Mathieu van der Poel to victories at Milan-Sanremo and Paris-Roubaix. Expect elite-level grip in the wet without the “sticky” drag penalty.

Race-Day Reality

At 275g for the 28mm version, it’s roughly 15g lighter than the RS. While it skips the heavy puncture belts to prioritize speed, the 120 TPI casing remains remarkably supple, offering that signature Pirelli “road feel” that communicates exactly what’s happening at the contact patch.

Specs & Compatibility

  • Sizes: 28-622 and 30-622 (32mm coming late 2026).

  • Compatibility: Fully ETRTO compliant; hookless compatible for the 28mm and 30mm sizes within pressure limits (73psi/5bar max).

  • Aesthetics: Available in classic black with silver labeling or the “Team Edition” yellow.

Pricing & Availability

The P ZERO Race TLR SL-R launched globally on March 24, 2026, and is hitting retail shelves now. MSRP is $127.90 / €99.90 per tire. Currently in stock at retailers, check Pirelli’s website for one near you.

If you’re eyeing the Team Edition yellow, grab them early—they tend to move faster than the tires themselves!

Smith Syncline

Quiver of One

Smith made these for fast descents on a bike or full coverage on a run. The new Syncline offers goggle-like coverage in the lightweight fit and feel of a sunglass. The performance-focused eyewear features a barely-there rimless design with a unique, integrated bumper on the frame to ensure chatter-free interface when worn with a helmet. The addition of ChromaPop™ optics provide unobstructed, high-contrast vision for season after season of boundless adventures.

Design

Comprised of lightweight and durable Evolve™ bio-based frame material in a slight wraparound fit, the Syncline offers superior protection with extra-large coverage from sun and glare. The 5-base cylindrical shield lens is offered exclusively in SMITH’s proprietary ChromaPop™ lens technology delivering enhanced color, clarity, and definition of objects. Lens options include a Photochromic Clear to Gray option to naturally adapt lens tint with available UV for a variety of conditions. Each frame comes with two interchangeable lenses – one for bright sun and a clear option for low-light or night adventures. Smudge and moisture resistant lens coatings provide easy cleaning and clear optics.

Features

Auto-lock hinges hold the frames open for easy, one-hand removal of the glasses, and the inclusion of megol temple and nose pads react to perspiration to provide a non-slip grip that won’t bounce while on the move. The megol on the nose pads is also adjustable for a more customized fit and will regulate airflow by positioning the glasses slightly away from the face to minimize lens fogging during high energy activities. The addition of a slight gap between the frame and the lens also allows for moisture venting.

Rx Compatibility

The frames are also compatible with the new ODS5 Prescription Sunglass Adaptor to seamlessly accommodate corrective vision needs. The lightweight adaptor easily snaps into the nose piece while maintaining a full field of view and lens interchangeability and won’t scratch the sunglass lens.

Pricing & Availability

The Syncline, available in five color options (MSRP $197-$237 USD / $215-$275 CDN / €175-€205 EUR / £189 UK / $225-$265 AUS with bonus clear lens, microfiber cleaning and storage pouch, and hard case) are available now at smithoptics.com and select specialty retailers worldwide.

Allen Smart Suction™ Go Compact Bike Rack

A rack that sucks!

Allen today announces the Smart Suction™ Go Compact Bike Rack (SB-05). It is the newest addition to its patented Smart Suction™ platform and the brand’s most accessible suction-based rack to date. Building on the success of the flagship SB01, Smart Suction™ Go delivers the same category-defining adaptability and real-time security monitoring in a more compact form factor. Allen designed it for riders who need a rack that easily adapts to their vehicles and lifestyles.

Automakers are integrating more glass, plastics, and aerodynamic contours into modern vehicle designs. These designs often limit compatibility with hitch, trunk, and roof systems. Smart Suction Go™ offers a secure, tool-free rack that mounts virtually anywhere without damaging the finish. Integrated Bluetooth-enabled pressure sensors continuously monitor suction integrity and communicate with the Allen app. The app provides drivers with instant assurance that their bicycle remains secure. The app connects seamlessly to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, enabling real-time visibility during transport.

Alex Allen, CEO of Allen, sez: “Suction-based products have already proven their reliability, but drivers want absolute confirmation that the cups are fully secured. Our Smart Suction™ monitoring delivers that peace of mind. And with Smart Suction™ Go, we’ve taken the next step, making the system not only more affordable but significantly more compact, more adaptable to different vehicles, and easier to take anywhere or store when not in use.”

Designed for Modern Life: Adaptable, Portable, and Vehicle-Ready

Allen created Smart Suction™ Go for riders who need a rack that integrates seamlessly into real-world routines for any vehicle. Its suction-based design adapts to different mounting locations (roof, rear glass, or rear van door) so riders can choose the setup that best fits their car, bike, and trip.

Its compact, lightweight architecture is easy to transport and store. Move it between vehicles, pack into a trunk, carry to a rental car, move between family cars, store in an apartment, or stow in a gear bag. This combination of adaptability, portability, and easy stowability expands where and when riders can take their bikes–without the bulk of conventional racks.

Rapha Selvedge Denim Collection

Reimagined style

Hiut Jeans Co. has collaborated with Rapha to launch a limited-edition selvedge denim collection.

The collection

Hiut reimagined Rapha’s City Jeans through a craftsmanship-led approach to denim. The launch includes one men’s style, The Work, and one women’s style, The Aurelia. These are designed for riders who value durability, attention to detail, and heritage,

Both styles are made from raw, unwashed 12.5oz indigo selvedge denim with a signature pink line from Cone Denim Mill, USA. Designed with cycling-specific details, Rapha included a reflective logo revealed when the right leg is rolled for visibility and a reinforced double center-back belt loop for strength in the saddle. Hiut finished each pair with their signature hi-vis pink owl rivet.

Jeans for life

The collection forms part of Rapha’s SS26 program and are available exclusively to RCC members. These pieces reinforce both brands’ shared focus on quality and longevity.

In keeping with Hiut’s founding mission to challenge throwaway culture, every pair comes with free repairs for life. Hiut’s GrandMasters in Cardigan, West Wales perform the repairs if required. The collection reflects Hiut’s commitment to making fewer, better products built to last and repaired for life.

Rapha also has a repairs program for its full range of cycling apparel. The program offers customers free repairs for garments damaged during a crash. Andy sez: “It really is free!”

What the brands sez

Johann von Loeper, CEO of Hiut Jeans Co. sez: “This collaboration brings together two brands obsessed with doing one thing properly. We’ve applied our focus on craft and longevity to create jeans that work on the bike, stand up to daily wear and are backed by free repairs for life.”

Anna McLeod, Senior Partnerships Manager, Rapha, sez: “Hiut jeans are made by artists who have honed their skills over a lifetime. It’s a philosophy built on dedication, obsession and craftsmanship that intrinsically appeals to cyclists. With subtle details designed for riding, these will be the only jeans you ever need.”

QUOC M Pro Lace

Classic Soul, Modern Speed

For the rider who refuses to settle for the static tension of a mechanical dial, the QUOC M Pro Lace offers a masterclass in anatomical comfort. It combines a Tour-validated carbon chassis with the micro-adjustable precision that only a lacing system can provide.

The Case for Laces

Beyond the timeless aesthetic, there is a functional advantage that even the most advanced BOA systems struggle to match: total pressure distribution. Laces allow you to tension the shoe across the entire bridge of the foot, eliminating the “hot spots” that can plague riders during five-hour epics. The M Pro Lace utilizes a two-tone lacing system that is failproof—there are no mechanical parts to clog with grit or snap in a mid-race tumble.

Technical Prowess & Aero Mesh

Despite its classic silhouette, the M Pro Lace is a technological powerhouse. The upper is constructed from a triple-layer Aerated Mesh TPU laminate. It’s incredibly thin and breathable—essential for those high-intensity April efforts—but it’s also remarkably resistant to stretching. This ensures your foot stays locked in place, even when you’re putting down maximal watts in a sprint. The “white” colorway stays pristine thanks to a protective TPU toe border that resists scuffs and road grime.

Tour-Validated Stiffness

Underneath the laces sits the same unidirectional carbon fiber sole found on the M3 Pro. It is unapologetically stiff, rated for WorldTour power transfer. At only 280g (size 42), it keeps rotating mass to a minimum. The sculpted heel cup and padded collar further enhance stability, ensuring zero slip when you’re out of the saddle. It’s the perfect blend of heritage-inspired design and cutting-edge racing performance.

MSRP & Delivery

The QUOC M Pro Lace launched on March 17 and is available now for $400 / £290. If you’re a kit curator who values the “if you know, you know” aesthetic of laces paired with the stiffness of a modern race shoe, these should be at the top of your 2026 early season shopping list. Check the shoes out and order direct at QUOC’s website.

Specialized Crux DSW

Performance Without the Carbon Tax

Specialized is moving into the lead in the “Super-Alloy” revival. The Crux DSW is not a budget-conscious afterthought; it is a high-performance gravel racer (and still a CX machine) that utilizes the brand’s most advanced aluminum engineering to challenge the dominance of mid-tier carbon.

The Return of Super-Alloy

For years, if you wanted to go fast on gravel, you had to go carbon. The Crux DSW shatters that. By taking the exact performance geometry of the S-Works Crux and translating it into E5 Premium Aluminum, Specialized has created a bike that is unapologetically aggressive. This is a “Big S” move that validates aluminum as a legitimate choice for the sharp end of the race, offering a level of durability and “snap” that carbon often struggles to replicate at this price point.

D’Aluisio Smartweld (DSW) Performance

The secret sauce here is D’Aluisio Smartweld. By hydroforming the tube joints to match perfectly and moving the welds away from the areas of highest stress, Specialized has produced an alloy frame that weighs a mere 1,399 grams. When paired with the FACT 12r carbon fork, the complete bike is lighter and more responsive than many carbon competitors. It’s stiff at the bottom bracket for those out-of-the-saddle climbs but maintains a level of vertical compliance that keeps you fresh over long, chunky sectors.

Technical Specs & Tire Clearance

True to its lineage, the Crux DSW inherits the massive clearance of its carbon sibling. You can comfortably run up to 700 x 47c or 650b x 2.1” tires, giving you the ability to transition from fast fire roads to technical singletrack without a second thought. The build features a reliable SRAM Apex XPLR 12-speed drivetrain, ensuring you have the range for the steepest “rollers” while keeping maintenance simple.

Pricing & Availability

The Specialized Crux DSW Comp is hitting floors now with an MSRP of $2,799.
For the “Gear Break” crowd looking to build a bespoke gravel weapon, the frameset is available for $1,799. It’s the perfect platform for a high-end, high-durability gravel build that doesn’t require a second mortgage. Check out all the details on the new Crux DSW at specialized.com.
