Well, Pez Fans, this is it. Gift Guide #4 is here. You’ve got 6 shopping days left. Socks are always a favorite, and winter demands Darn Tough wool socks to stay dry and warm. We’ve got a curated gift list from KOM Cycling. Chuck sorted through the extensive iGPSPORT offerings, and selected some gems for you as well. Apidura have just released some really neat items for the ultra racer, and we have it for you. Zwift dropped a huge update to the drafting mechanics in their software, and I’m gonna give it a whirl later today. Last, and certainly not least, Mosaic have discounted their Batch Built frames for a limited time, don’t get caught sleeping. Santa is probably packing the sleigh by now, so don’t waste any more time getting your last requests in to the Big Guy.
Darn Tough Micro Crew Socks – $25-30
Foot bliss
Let’s just get this out of the way, Darn Tough bills these as hiking socks. I don’t ever walk anywhere deliberately (though I somehow manage to get in 8,000 steps a day!). But, for riding a bike, in winter, these socks are the ticket. Paired with regular shoes and an appropriate shoe cover, these work. I’ve comfortably done 2-4 hour training rides on both tarmac and gravel down to 25°F (4°C).

The socks have a generously padded foot, so they may not work perfectly with all road shoes. I’ve not had issues with any MTB or Gravel shoes, however. Hot spots are never an issue. Wool is magic. It insulates when wet, and its natural anti-microbial characteristics mean these won’t end up foul. The graphical styling of these socks is not specifically “bike” oriented. But, Darn Tough offer a multitude of color options, so that you may remain Rule #28 compliant.
Andy sez: I own a couple of pairs that are approaching 10 years, and although they have thinned, they still work great. Darn Tough state they are “Unconditionally Guaranteed for Life.” While I’ve not personally used it, the word on the street is that they actually back it.
The Bottom Line
The Darn Tough Micro Crew are a fantastic all-season sock option, and supremely amazing winter socks. Single pairs run $25-30. Head over to the Darn Tough website to peruse the entire collection, or check your favorite retailer. These socks will certainly make your favorite cyclist happy when they find them in their stocking hung with care…I know they make me happy!

iGPSPORT
Stuff your stockings for less

iGPSPORT may not be a brand familiar to a lot of PEZ readers. But they’ve been around for over a decade and make quality products that are competitive with the “big boys” and sold in more than 40 countries around the world. Chris Froome—4-time Tour de France winner and one of only 7 riders to win all three Grand Tours—is iGPSPORT’s global ambassador. And iGPSPORT recently entered into a partnership with World Tour team Groupama-FDJ. Beginning in 2026, Groupama-FDJ will be fully equipped with iGPSPORT products, using the BiNavi bike computer for both races and daily training sessions.

TL50 Smart Taillight

Chuck sez: This is a small and relatively inexpensive taillight packed with a lot of features, including:
- 50 lumens provides up to 1.2 km visibility (I have no way to actually measure/confirm this, but can say on its brightest settings that the TL50 is very visible even in daylight from a good distance) and a 280 degree viewing angle
- 6 flash modes – high steady, low steady, day flash, night flash, light wheel, and custom (you use the iGPSPORT app to create a custom mode)
- Auto sleep/wake – Automatically enters sleep mode when idle and wakes up on your next ride
- Team sync – If you’re on a group ride with others who also have the TL50 and are within 50 meters, the lights will flash in sync (not a feature I could test)
- Brake flash – A built-in accelerometer automatically brightens the light when braking
- Front and rear light synchronized control (with supported iGPSPORT bike computer)
- Hazard flash – When you stop, the TL50 the taillight automatically switches to a bright hazard flash (with supported iGPSPORT bike computer)
- Smart light sensing – Automatically turns on in the dark, stays on standby during the day, and adjusts brightness according to ambient light (with supported iGPSPORT bike computer)
- Shimano Di2 control – Use Di2 to turn the TL50 on/off and switch modes (requires Shimano Di2 connected to a supported iGPSPORT bike computer)
Spot on spec weight
You’ll need your own USB-C cord (in today’s world, the odds are pretty good that you already have at least one) to charge the TL50. But iGPSPORT includes an underseat mount that clamps to the saddle rails. The TL50 attaches via a Garmin-style quarter-turn mount.

ET6 Smart Emoji Taillight

Chuck sez: If you want something more than just a smart taillight, the ET6 has many of the same features as the TL50 plus (with 274 COB LEDs) can display emojis for those riding behind you to see/be amused by. So both functional and fun. (NOTE: For those of us who are … ahem … older, it’s important to remember that emojis are interpreted differently across generations.)

Looks like a climb is coming up!

A couple of cool features of the ET6:
- Emojis for braking
- Turn signals

iGPSPORT says “about 43g” so as the saying goes: close enough for government work

HR50 Heart Rate Monitor

Chuck sez: If you’re in the market for a chest strap heart rate monitor (HRM), the iGPSPORT HR50 is an affordable/low cost option (a lot of other chest strap HRMs can cost 2-4 times more).
Honestly, there’s not a whole lot to say about the HR50:
- It’s a chest strap with a heart rate monitor unit that snaps onto the strap.
- Put it on like any other HR strap.
- With the HR50 on correctly, you can pair (Bluetooth or ANT+) to your device(s) of choice.
- Go ride!
I was not able to test the accuracy of the HR50. That said, connected to my iPhone and using the Elite HRV app, both my heart rate and HRV (heart rate variability) were comparable to the measurements using a different chest strap HRM. And my heart rate with the HR50 correlated with my heart rate on my Apple Watch Series 9. (It’s worth noting the Apple Watch Series 9 has been shown to have high accuracy for resting heart rate measurements. But a chest strap HRM like the HR50 should be more accurate since it measures electrical impulses rather than an optical measurement that measures the amount of light reflected back through the skin as blood flows through the capillaries.)

Apidura Packables
Repacked for “ultra” adventure
The Packable Backpack and Packable Musette directly address these specific needs of the ultra-distance cyclist—the late-night gas station raids and carrying fuel and food while maintaining a lightweight and fuss-free setup. Originally launched in 2020, the Packables have been repacked after 5 years of watching the bags travel the world and learning how to make them better.
Two pieces for one purpose
Most ideas begin where they matter most, in the community. An unmet need. A workaround that shouldn’t be necessary. A desire to push further, faster, or with fewer compromises. Turning those insights into purposeful equipment takes time, collaboration and countless test miles. This is the story of Packables, a series shaped by riders, refined through real-world experience, and first imagined back in the summer of 2018.
When you enter the world of unsupported, ultra-distance cycling, it is clear that the unique challenges that arise, compared to other sports and disciplines even within cycling, are different. On long days out, riding from dawn ‘til dusk and often late into the night with no support crew, riders will need to think about supplies and refuelling for the miles ahead. These bags are designed to be carried with no bulk, and provide a simple, yet reliable, off bike solution for portering what you need without disassembling your carefully packed and secured rig.
Features

- Made from a water-resistant Cordura ripstop material with a tighter weave for durability and strength.
- Daisy chain and cord hook sternum straps on both products for a lighter, lower profile and a better on-body fit.
- Reflective side panels on the Packable Backpack.
- Reflective thread woven into the webbing straps on both Packable Backpack and Musette.
- Can be packed away in their own pockets and strapped to the frame.
- Material choice now means Apidura’s supply chain is completely PFAS-free.
- Weight & capacity: 110g, 13L (Packable Backpack) 58g, 7L (Packable Musette).

The bottom line
These small, but helpful pieces of kit are thoughtfully designed and executed. With the MSRPs they carry, there’s no reason to pass these by. Especially if your favorite cyclist is adventurous. The Packable Backpack MSRP is US$75, 59€, £46, AU$99. The Packable Musette clocks in at US$53, 39€, £34, AU$69. Head over to Apidura to get all the details and find a retailer, or buy.
Zwift Updates
Intangibles are the best gifts
